PLAY MANAGER VACANCY

(PART TIME – TEMPORARY FOR 18 MONTHS)

Ecclesall Kids Club take pride in delivering high quality care for children within our infant and junior Breakfast Club and Afterschool settings.

We are offering a new opportunity for a Part time Temporary Play Manager (18 months with a possibility of a permanent role in our new structure) to work within a well-established out of school provision. The role will initially span our infant and junior clubs in two geographically close locations, the successful candidate will work with our Business and HR Manager to lead the merger of our infant and junior settings to become one large, single site setting that supports the creation of Ecclesall Primary in September 2018.

Our ideal candidate will need to be an experienced change and staff manager and be enthusiastic, motivated and committed to providing an outstanding level of service. They will need to demonstrate they have the experience, vision and skills to help to design our new structure and joined up service, take it through implementation and support our staff through the change to help us to deliver our future club in September 2018. They will work seamlessly with our HR and Business Manager to help make our future club the best it can be, supported by a trained and motivated workforce.

Our candidate will need to be experienced, professional, well organised and demonstrate effective communication skills. They will be role model for our staff and children. They will need the ability to use good judgement, common sense, prioritise and make competent decisions.

Qualifications and Experience

Desirable – Degree, NVQ level 4/5 in a relevant subject eg playwork, childcare management with a solid base of experience in out of school or business childcare settings.

Essential – Minimum NVQ level 3 in playwork or childcare/ teaching related discipline along with substantial experience and a proven track record in management (including staff) and change management in at least two child care settings.

All candidates must have a valid Paediatric First Aid/Food Hygiene qualification, or be willing to undertake these qualifications. All candidates must have an appropriate level of up to date safeguarding training and ideally Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) Experience.

All candidates must have a thorough understanding and experience of the EYFS framework, equal opportunities and Special Educational Needs.

Hours of work and pay rate

£14.81 per hour, hours 12.5 hours – 15 hours per week term time and some non term working shared with the Business Manager to support our holiday club and set up of our new club for Sept 2018.

The working hours for the post are 7.30am – 9am breakfast Club and 2.50pm – 6pm after school (worked flexibly within session). The hours and days worked are flexible, shared with the Business and HR Manager, we envisage most of the hours worked will be in the afterschool settings at both clubs.

Purpose of the post

  • To manage, lead and support the work of the team of Play Workers and take our existing provision to the next level through managing change and the merger of our two settings.
  • To provide high quality, safe play opportunities for the children in your care.
  • To provide strong leadership, drive the change project alongside our HR and Business Manager, be involved in day to day management and staff supervision.
  • To provide high quality, flexible childcare for families.
  • To assist in delivery of the Management Committees aims and objectives and support the development of their Strategic Action Plan.
  • To comply with statutory requirements where they apply including Ofsted and the EYFS.
